PowerPoint - Transition with Style

Transitions are the the animation like effects that occur when you change from slide to slide during a presentation. In PowerPoint 2007 and above you can also control the speed of each effect as well as add sound.

And if you've sat through a presentation with slides coming in from all sides and at all speeds why not learn how to transition with style.

How to Add Transitions

  - Click the Slides tab on the left hand side of the slide window

  - Select the slide thumbnails you want to apply transitions to

  - Go to the Animations tab,

  - In Transition To This Slide group, click the transition effect you want

  - To set transition speed between slides click the arrow next to Transition Speed, and then select the speed you want

  - If you want the same transition effects on all slides click Apply to All

Seven Tips for Stylish Transitions

  - There are lots of transition effects in PowerPoint so play around before you start applying them. Check each

effect by hovering your mouse over the icon.

  - Transitions are a finishing touch so apply them when all the slides are edited and in the right order

  - Slides for business presentations should be quite dull so choose effects that work well with the subject you are

    presenting

  - Although it's all a matter of taste fade is a good effect to move subtly from one slide to the next

  - Find one transition and use throughout - different effects can be very distracting

  - But if a slide needs special emphasis consider a different transition

  - Sounds can be very annoying think hard before applying any

  - When transitions have been added to a slide a little icon will appear on the top left of the slide thumbnail.  Clicking on

the icon lets you preview the transitions and animations you have added.
